WE HAVE A WINNER!
The results are in on the WBR logo competition!
The Waterberg has been abuzz since we launched the logo competition, and we were blown away by all the wonderful entries. With over 52 submissions, entrants were tasked to design a new logo for the Biosphere that would be easily recognisable, reflects the elements that make the Biosphere so special, be easy to reproduce in print and embroidery and importantly, reflect our values and mission.
Working with our 2023 tagline of: Our Biosphere, Our Heritage, Our Home, the new logo will make the WBR stand out as a recognisable, professional and representative entity. In keeping with the Biosphere’s history of community representation and inclusivity, who better to design our new logo than our own residents?
Our judges were:
Mr Koketso Kotsoe, Head of Marakele National Park (representing SANParks and the conservation sector)
Phineas Sebatsane, Youth Representative and Community Member
Marianna Gouws, Marketing Business Owner and Community Member
Maize Art, Design and Illustration Studio, Graphic Designer and Art Specialist
All results were evaluated and endorsed by the board and staff of Waterberg Biosphere.
A heartfelt thank you to our judges for their time, careful consideration and decision-making.
The winning logo was from Marilize Greyling, who received a R1000 cash prize. The first-place runner up was Lesley Barnard, who received R750, and the second runner up, Tiny Ngoako, received R500.
Special prizes of art kits were awarded for artistic endeavour and hand drawn submissions from:
Keletso Emmanuel, Katlego Komape, Mojeloa Kabelo, Lekotlo Sello and Katwane Mmaphuti.
We would like to make special mention of Alexander Babich & Associates for sponsoring all the prizes.
And lastly, thank you to all the Waterbergers who entered and supported the competition – without you, we could not be who and what we are!
